The Backrooms Movie Review

I am assuming you're already familiar with the backrooms. In case you're not, here's the OG 4chan post:

OG Backrooms 4chan Post

This description summarizes fairly well. The original idea is that our mortal realm is like a video game that has glitches like a video game, one of them being that you can "noclip" out of said realm and enter a massive void known as "the backrooms", a colossal maze of empty hallways reminiscient of closed or abandoned 90's architecture. It's meant to invoke the strange, oxymoronical comfort and discomfort that you may have felt walking through an empty school, mall, church, office, hotel, or even apartment building, and turn it into an internet creepypasta with theological implications.

Overtime, popularity of the backrooms expanded massively. The backrooms has an active wiki, a pretty good video game, and several short films on Youtube. These short films are what gradually lead to us getting a full length film in theaters, which I am reviewing now. The film, simply referred to as "Backrooms", was directed by a 20 year old short film Youtuber named Kane Parson. It came out about a week and a half ago, had a very low budget, and has already made huge amounts of money at the box office. Kane Parsons has undoubtedly made absolute bank with this film, and I'm happy for him. Not only is it an interesting movie to see, however, it is arguably even more interesting to think and talk about after having seen it, and that's why I decided to write this review.
