Youtube wants me to do ID/face verification if I want to keep doing community posts. I'm locked out of Twitter/X/whatever you want to call it at the moment so I decided to try posting directly to my website. I have no idea whether this will work well or not.

The return of a masculine culture is welcome because it gives me hope that our institutions will actually start respecting the masculine virtues necessary for a healthy society again.

I think Elliot Rodger serves as a very important lesson in stoic philosophy, that being basing your life satisfaction and self worth off of relation toward others will inherently lead to anguish and catastrophe.

Stoicism isn't anti-relational and there is a general moral principal in stoic philosophy of duty to others as long as you can reasonably and realistically uphold that duty without loss of virtue, but basing virtue and contentment on how others respond will lead to you being like Elliot Rodger.I think Elliot Rodger serves as a very important lesson in stoic philosophy, that being basing your life satisfaction and self worth off of relation toward others will inherently lead to anguish and catastrophe.

oops I accidentally missed FE6

FE6: I refuse to call it "Binding Blade" because that's just not an accurate translation of the Japanese name, but "Sealed Sword" would just confuse people so I opted to call it FE6 instead. Damn amazing game, GBA Fire Emblem really was in general but still. Doesn't have the most interesting plot, but the gameplay is really fun.

Shadow Dragon: A proper remake of FE1. Reclassing is fun. Difficult as hell though.

New Mystery of the Emblem: I don't really understand what they were thinking with this one. It's a remake of Mystery of the Emblem book 2, using the same engine as the Shadow Dragon remake, but you get an avatar character, which is kind of cool gameplay-wise but interferes with the story way too much. It's accidentally a good game anyway though just because if you play on the very hard difficulties then you have to put a lot of thought into your positioning and you have to deploy a lot of advanced strats and I think that's kind of cool.

Awakening: Truth be told I never played this one, at least not for more than like one map. It wasn't really my thing.

Fates: Not really my thing either, Birthright or Conquest. So I never played much of either of these either.

Echoes: The 3DS FE that I actually like, mainly because it's a remake of Gaiden, bnut an actually good remake. Seriously, they took Gaiden and actually made it good.

Three Houses: I didn't like it that much after I settled into it, but I warmed up to it a bit and like it more now. I like to think of it as being less like a Fire Emblem game and more like if Persona was an SRPG in an FE-like world. It's a good game when thought about from this angle.

Engage: I played a very small amount of this one but not much. It gave me a higher impression than I had on it before I played it. Maybe I should play more.

FE7: This was actually my first FE, and a pretty solid one. I do have my complaints about it though. Lyn mode is a nice tutorial the first time you play it, but it's otherwise a slog. Also, the plot is dumb and having multiple different protagonists at once seems like a cool idea in theory, but in practice it means you have 3 liabilities that give you a game over when they die instead of just one. Also, some of the optional maps have highly unreasonable requirements to the point where I to this day have never played them. What it gets right though is that the characters are likeable, it's very beginner-friendly, and it does give you a lot to do.

Sacred Stones: Also a very beginner-friendly FE. I never liked the presentation of this one, and I'm not entirely sure why. I think it tried to be significantly moodier than FE7 but just felt more drab instead. Still a great game in its own right. Branching promotions and trainee units were both cool ideas.

Path of Radiance: I want to like this one but whenever I play maniac mode in the Japanese version, I always end up ragequiting not even very far into the map. It has an experience system that seems like a really cool idea in theory but then when I actually try to meet the bonus experience goals, I just get frustrated.

Radiant Dawn: I actually like this one even less than Path of Radiance because they intentionally downgrade the quality of life in the harder difficulties. Just because I want more of a challenge in the maps themselves doesn't mean I want less convenience.

my opinion on every mainline fire emblem game:

Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light: Historically important due to being the first game of its type, but I wouldn't exactly want to play it now.

Gaiden: I don't like this one. It's just as boring as FE1 but significantly more grindy, plus Shining Force came out like a month later and was much better. Play the remake instead

Mystery of the Emblem: Half of this game is just a remake of FE1 with quality of life improvements and the other half is a decent sequel to the original. Not a bad game, but Shining Force and Shining Force II were still better games.

Genealogy of the Holy War: The first Fire Emblem that I actually like. Itk really does feel like a real medieval battle. It's not exactly tachnologically impressive. This game came out the same year as Super Mario 64, for comparison's sake, and Shining Force III came out a year later, but I do think this is the first Fire Emblem game to give the Shining Force a run for its money, since it has great quality of life, memorable music, and an amazing story.

Thracia 776: This was one of the last games on the SNES, literally coming out in 1999. It is one of my favorite games of all time though, just because of how inspiring I find the narrative, and how the gameplay manages to match it. Thracia 776 is a game all about surviving in a world that doesn't like you, and I find that beautiful.

The only way the government will ever take away my Minecraft server is if they pry it out of my dead, cold hands

Also, I would post the SeriesGraph charts on Youtube, but Youtube won't let me post community posts unless I dox myself to them. I may not be the boss of Youtube, but I am the boss of my own site, and the boss says I'm allowed to post any external links I want without uploading any ID or face scan at all.

anyway I made a couple seriesgraph charts. one for negima 2005 and one for AVGN

Peace and wisdom, but also fortitude and courage. That's what leads to an untroubled life. I don't think I'm a very wise person, few people are, unfortunately, but I certainly have the seeds of wisdom, and I think I'm getting wiser as time goes on, so that's what helps me sleep at night.

I think I could actually do the McCrelly challenge, I would just feel very sick by the time I was done.

After losing interest in brown rice, just because the texture and stickiness was just not the taste of brown rice, I was thinking of other alternatives. I was watching a TalonFitness video where they made a nutritional tier list of grains, and they put white rice in D tier, brown rice in B tier, and oatmeal in A tier. I thought about it later and eventually realized that plain oatmeal actually has a very similar taste and texture to white sticky rice, but is far more nutritious. This gave me an idea: what if I just replace rice with oatmeal altogether? So I tried that today and it actually worked. My strange experiment actually worked. If you don't believe me, then try it yourself. Cook something savory and rice-based with meat and vegetables, but use oatmeal instead of rice and see how it comes out and whether or not you like it. Get a backup comfort food in case you don't like it, but you may be surprised.

Also, I heard the Inlustris rendition of "Stella Splendens" and it reminded me of the dance party in the festival area in Chrono Trigger, to the point where I've actually considered putting together those 2 things in a video just to demonstrate how well they go together.

Maybe I should just leave every excessively performative server I'm on. Something happened recently to somebody I know that just reminded me of how disgusted I should be with that kind of culture, and I feel a bit of cognitive dissonance for continuing to be in those spaces. I'm still going back and forth on it for some reason though, and that's probably at least partially because I suspect they wouldn't be THAT bad, though it likely would vary from person to person within said server.

It feels weird being 30, but I guess I am now. Thank you all for the birthday wishes.

Now give the donkey some pure wine to wash down those figs.

Yesterday, the Anbernic RG34XXSP came in, so I've been messing around with that. So far it seems like an incredibly convenient and practical handheld that I can just keep in my pocket and game wherever I want. I like its GBA-like design but with a more modern-style button layout. Everything up to PS1/Saturn/DS emulates perfectly or near-perfectly, while N64, Dreamcast, and PSP are more hit and miss. You can apparently mod the firmware but so far I don't feel the need to. It has a Bilibili client by default which I haven't yet done much with, and you can install a Youtube client to it which I did. Here are some photos:
